Post-Conference Thoughts
It is difficult to believe the conference concluded three weeks ago and now I'm focused on being a school teacher again. The All Write Now Conference has been a project close to my heart for many years. Since year one we have evolved into something to be proud of on many levels. Not perfect, by any means, but we improve each time and provide a quality, reasonably-priced service that people would otherwise not have in this area.
As with any project of this magnitude, it can't happen without a lot of sweat and tears from many people. I'm not going to list them here because I will forget someone. You know who you are. You are appreciated.
No one except event coordinators know the kind of work it takes to put together a day like this. Contacting speakers. Reserving a venue. Establishing a menu. Creating how many? schedules that all coordinate. Making sure everyone does their job. Collecting information for blogs, brochures, fliers, etc. Formulating and implementing a marketing plan. And on and on. THEN when something happens to destroy the Jenga tower you've carefully built, you have to wing it. It's terrifying, it's exhilarating, it's time consuming, but it's worth seeing all the people show up, learn more about writing, and leave happy.
Next year the committee is planning something vastly different than it has done before. It's a format I personally think will be what we've all been wanting but didn't know how to put into words...until this year. "What is it?" You ask. Well, you'll have to wait and see.
Or....
You could volunteer to be *ON* the committee and help bring the All Write Now! Conference into its next stage of development. Yes, it's hard work. Yes, it can be frustrating. Yes, it takes time. But I guarantee when you see what the committee is planning, you'll want to be a part of it.
The committee would especially like to find someone with web page design/development skills. This website has served its purpose for three years, but we've outgrown it. AWN! needs its own domain and site and if YOU are willing to help with that, please consider being on the committee for next year.
We also need a chairperson and/or co-chair. The idea is for two people to serve each year and the co-chair to move up the second year to be the chair. This way one person doesn't serve as chair for life.
If you have pictures you'd like to share, ideas, or again, would like to contribute your skills for next year, please email allwritenowconferencemo@gmail.com and someone will contact you.
Thank you again for coming to the conference (if you were able) and supporting All Write Now! Keep your eyes open for announcements and updates. Next year is going to WOW you, guaranteed!
